The Nigeria Labour Congress on Wednesday, condemned the decision of governors to pay N22, 500 as minimum wage to workers, saying the proposed wage is not acceptable to the impoverished workers.
The NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, described the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) as unknown to law and therefore cannot take any decision on issues affecting Nigerian workers. The labour leader advised all governors to return to their respective states and consult with workers, even as he insisted that the N66,500 earlier demanded by workers as minimum wage remained feasible.
Wabba, who maintained that paying workers the N66,500 minimum wage would not trigger inflation, asked the governors to go back to their respective domains to negotiate with their workers rather than using an illegal forum to take decisions on the welfare of the civil servants.
